On Yeast Infections : What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know (Yet)

Candidia Albicansthe medical condition that causes yeast infections, and Lower Urinary Tract Infections (LUTIs). It is caused by an overabundance of yeast in intestinal tract. We all have yeast growing inside us, infections occur when they overly proliferate.

I used to be plagued by both yeast infections, and lower urinary tract infections. These are really the worst. I remember the horror and panic I would feel as the familiar pain would begin. I would not be able to “go” until I got a prescription for sulphur based antibiotics. I would then have to follow up with a injected anti yeast treatment, and cream to treat tthe resultant yeast infection, and erase the dark red infected areas on my chest and inner thighs.

It was a real nightmare. This pattern of infection, pain and treatment continued throughout my twenties and thirties. It was not all that often, but regularily, and enough to cause me a lot of stress, bother and pain.

Finally, in my mid thirties I make a connection between eating yeast, and having yeast infections. I decided to completely stop eating yeast. While it did take a few years to completely clear my diet of this common ingredient, the effect once I did, was dramatic and immediate. My yeast infections stopped completely, as well as my LUTIs. I had a lot more energy, and my mental clarity improved greatly.

It has been five years, and I have not had a single infection or LUTI. That is amazing! I am convinced that it is entirely yeast that is the cause, and the elimination of yeast in your diet the cure.

The medical community is still pretty much in the dark about this. They still advise those with yeast infections to wear cotton underwear, and not use scented bath products which is good advice, but does not really help stop yeast infections. I have yet to find a doctor that suggested to me to stop eating yeast, and other than the book “The Yeast Connection” and the online candidis community, no one really is aware of the harmful aspect of eating yeast.

Yeast infection, and intolerance is a serious and debilitating problem for many people. It’s a contributing factor in A.D.D., L.D.s, depression, low energy, chronic fatigue, moodiness, addiction and underachievment. Yeast, if you’re body grows too much, will rob you of your health, energy, comfort, motivation and ability to think and feel.

I believe we all succumb to yeast intolerance eventually; it is, I believe, the cause of incontinance. For those with candidia, who have a higher degree of yeast intolerance, and are prone to it’s devastating effect at an earlier age.

I drank alot in my youth, ate an unhealthy diet, and my yeast infection began at that time. Alcohol is made with yeast and sugar which feeds yeast, so I think this ovetabundance of yeast led to my imbalance and suseptibility to infection. My unhealthy diet didn’t allow my body to rebalance itself, so it too was a factor.

For lovers of bread and other yeasty foods and drinks, there is hope. I believe it may be possible to eat yeast again after a year, or a few of abstinance. That would allow your natural yeast balance to return. If your suspectable to Candida, you will probably never be able to eat it regularily, but I have eaten it on occasion recently, without any ill effects. I still try not to, as I just feel better being yeast free.

I am sharing my experience with a yeast free diet, because I believe our purpose in life is, as it states in the fourth Buddist dharma, to ease the suffering of all on earth, and hopefully, by sharing this, I will be doing just that.

If you do have these conditions, here are my suggestions for relief. They definitely worked for me:

1. Do not eat live yeast foods- Just say no to breads, rolls, buns, donuts, yogurt, and reduce the amount of beer, alcohol, vinegar, soy sauce and other yeast fermented foods.

2. Eat a healthy vegan diet. Plenty of fruits and vegetables, plant based proteins, healthy fats, and whole grains.. Avoid or eliminate excessive sugar, salt, processed and junk foods.

3. Drink plenty of water. Drink 4-8 glasses of water a day depending on your weight. Drink fresh juices, herbal teas and decaf beverages as well. Hydration is a key to healthiness.
