The Point of Life

Times are tough, for many, and it can seem sometimes, that life is pointless, and meaningless. It is just too much bad, and crazy. A sure sign of our troubled times, and that we are a species who are floundering. We are still hopeful, but sometimes at a loss for meaning.

I was thinking about this this evening. Tomorrow is the first day of school and to me, this is as exciting to me, as when I was a child. My children are school age, and have another year of schoolwork, homework, choosing their activities, friends and direction in life. It is an exciting time for them, and for me. In regard to being a mother, I am ever left in wonder, and amazement that these two great people, my children, are in my life.

Life is about we can give, and what we can learn from giving. I learnt that lesson through being a mother, and by loving animals, the abused, and caring about their rights. I discovered life has a point, and it is up to all of us, to find its meaning in our own lives.

Deep thoughts, but these days I find philosophical thinking is a real escape from all the doom, and gloom of our news and media driven world. Drama and doom are in vouge now, and I just am not interested. What I am interested in continues: the work to make this a decent and better world for all, to fight the “power of Satan”, sin and selfishness, and to become, through my caring and active involvement, a better person, mother and citizen of planet earth. This to me is the greater, and true meaning of life on earth. It seems simple and small, but just imagine if we all did this.

I hope everyone has a great new school year, one that is hopefully as full of meaning, and purpose as it is promise. Have fun, study hard, be kind, and enjoy it.
