On Western Culture: Politics, Progress and Limitations For All

Even though I’m fully an adult as a post 50 year old, I’m still evolving as as a person, as are my political beliefs. I would define myself politically as a democratic socialist liberal who believe in traditional Christian values. My being Christian as well as an activist defines my morality and they both play a big part my political beliefs and activism. I’m also a socialist and non partisan supporters of issues on both sides of the political fence. I still call and consider myself a leftist, but these days also belong to the wide middle, a new political location that encompasses issue on both sides, stopping only at far side issues and beliefs. I am secure in my political beliefs and that has allowed me to hold them despite often vile and hateful attacks by members of both the far right and left.

As I basically and literally have the beliefs, values and politics that made the western world great, first and superior in many practical ways, and the First World, I understandably have problems trying to understand those today who revile me because of them.

These critics and defenders of false causes charge me and the world for not being perfect but don’t understand appparently that the west was always progressive. We are a work in progress and that progress is limited to what’s real and true. Animal rights, ecological awareness are today’s areas of progress and need to be as ingrained into life as anti slavery, racism, child, women and lgbt, human rights have become and that we still fight to insure and protect.

Life is about evolving to perfect, as Jesus said, to bring heaven to earth which is God’s promise. You need to be, as he taught us, as humble as a child and as fully mighty and perfect as God to do so, so it all just makes sense to be good, strive for perfection and obey Christian God given values, which are the same for all religion and spirituality as well.

The God or good and smart based value system was, is and remains the only path forward, and the only path that can promise and provides peace, pleasantness and pleasure, prosperity, justice and progress.

I’m left, not far left as I understand progress doesn’t always mean total change. Its means getting better, which often involves both change, and keeping and updating. As life moves forward, we need to be wise in seperating progressive change from the destructive change that the far sides and low support and try to demand.

Both far sides fight against what they call unfair limitations. They don’t understand limitations allow freedom, they don’t take it away. Limitations are needed. A parent will let their child stay out to midnight but not three o’clock in the morning, and that’s just wise and it’s fair. The west has always had limitations and also been very liberal in our allowances. Today many, including myself believe we have gone and are going too far. We should reimpose sane and sound limits as they don’t infringing on anyone’s freedom and rights as good, law abiding members of society and protect us all from harm, and harmful excess. A limitless society awards only the far, low and criminal, can only lead to decline and we are definitely seeing that occur. Activists who support far and low attitudes and actions with their demands for no limitations, wonder why things don’t get better or better fast enough. The truth is this is because limitless freedom doesn’t empower a just, good and free society and progress, its delays, perverts, exploits and obstructs it.

The truth is limits grow up, enhance and protect humanity, life, and a high quality of life. We can have, for example, sexiness without nudity, immorality, disrespect and porn. We can have honesty, anger, expression and realness without endless rude obsenity, horror, terror, depressing filth, negativity and violence, and humor without meanness, sickness or hate. We can be tough and strong without being abusive and confrontational. We can have full inclusion without political farness and social and behavioral lowness. We can champion with prosperity for all and a low waste, low consumerist culture. Self love and care without sin and selfishness. We can have it all and say no to those who want too much, a more than diminishes us all and our spirit. All is enough. Too much just makes you sick, sinful and warped.
When no limits entertainment and media culture thrives, the less we all have collectively. It feeds the far and low sinful rich treats and leaves the rest of humanity, stuck in their media cultural world, feeling empty, angry, starving and needy and sick. Apathy, impotant anger, anxiety, stress and a feeling of loss are the results, and the decline of our culture as well. To end this decline, its time to impose sound limits and once again block evil and their forces, their members, from access and control of our culture, society arts and media, our lives and world. This is what limits are to protect us against. As long as evil, bad and wrong exist we need to have limits.

Limits are good and necessary, as they enable freedom, the goodness, quality and greatness of life, and protect us against evil and our foes. There is nothing wrong and boring with what limits empowers: virtue, niceness, wholesomeness, common sense, progress, maturity and truth. As these all seem these days to infringe on some people’s and group’s freedom they are quickly declining values in our world. We must say no to this decline, the reviling and banning of the good, nice and normal, civility and real culture, and welcome back a brand of politics, a status quo that reflects our greatness, goodness, spirit and humanity. That is not happening and unless we care and have the courage to speak up, it never will.
